Overall view of his life (Lisbon 1810 – Quinta de Vale de Lobos, Azoia de Baixo, Santarém, 1877), a poet and novelist, known thouroughly as an historian, especially due to his “History of Portugal”, in 4 volumes, which features an innovative vision, for the time, of the Portuguese history, since its beginnings until the time of King Dom Afonso III.
